一 | Colombo, Oct 21 (UNI) Britain has said the Metropolitan Police will consider a request from Sri Lanka to help investigate the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings if "it is proportionate, necessary and legal", a newspaper reported on Friday.
In response to a written question by a Labour MP whether the Metropolitan Police was taking steps to support the probe into the bombings, Minister of State (Home Office) (Security) Tom Tugendhat informed the UK Parliament that Metropolitan Police have not deployed any officers, The Island newspaper said.
However, he said that the Home Office works closely with policing partners to support requests from international partners across the full spectrum of policing.
“The Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism command dispatched a team of specialists to Sri Lanka in 2019, including family liaison officers, to support the families of British victims and assist with the repatriation of deceased British nationals.
"A programme run by Interpol involved the training of 30 Sri Lankan forensic specialists and police officers by UK experts in disaster victim identification,” the Minister stated.
Earlier, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said he will seek the assistance of the police authorities of the UK in order to complete the investigation into the Easter Sunday attacks of 2019.

A라인(정부과천청사~양재시민의숲, 8.24㎞), B라인(양재시민의숲~압구정, 6.97㎞), C라인(양재시민의숲~법조타운, 13.04㎞)까지 총연장 28.25㎞ 규모로 계획됐다.사업과 관련한 의견이 있는 주민은 9월 22일까지 의견을 제출할 수 있다. 9월 15일까지 구청 기후환경과, 양재1동·2동 주민센터에서 전략환경영향평가서 초안을 열람할 수 있다. 공람 장소에 있는 의견서 양식에 따라 서면으로 제출하거나 환경영향평가정보지원시스템에 의견을 등록하면 된다. 구는 접수된 의견이 사업 시행과 환경영향평가 과정에 반영될 수 있도록 국토교통부에 전달할 예정이다.전성수 구청장은 “이번 설명회로 주민 의견을 세심히 경청하고 초안 계획대로 조속히 추진될 수 있도록 관계 기관과 지속해 소통하며 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.。
